I’ve had good results pairing open plans with concealed moment frames and a single service spine — keeps it airy while letting gravity have the final vote. Our rule: “open where you can, stiff where you must,” and we test bay options in a quick Grasshopper script to compare drift and cost before DD. Small caveat: coordinate acoustics and return-air paths early or the openness backfires.
