I keep inheriting strip center plans with 30’ bay spacing, and our GC swears it dates to 1970s joist tables — does anyone know the actual origin or a documented early example? Was this codified in a ULI or BOMA guide circa 1980, or did a specific developer or mall rollout make 30’ the default for tenant splits?
