It’s renewable, has great insulation properties, and captures CO2, yet it’s still not widely adopted. I’m curious about what barriers we face in the industry regarding its use and how we can advocate for more awareness.
I’ve used hempcrete in a few projects, and it’s like building with a cozy blanket — super insulating! The biggest hurdle I faced was finding certified contractors familiar with it. It would help to have more workshops like the one you attended to spread the word and train folks. @HempHousingCoalition has some great resources for advocacy too.
It’s frustrating how slow the construction industry is to adopt hemp! I worked on a tiny house project using hemp insulation, and while the thermal properties blew me away, the bureaucracy around sourcing hemp materials held us back.
