When your rendering looks too real

Ever had that moment when your 3D render looks so realistic that it fools even your own family? Last week, I had my mom asking if the kitchen I designed was finished. I mean, I love my software, but I’m still stuck in the realm of pixels. Anyone else experience this hilarious confusion?

I’ve definitely had that happen — once my friend tried to serve dinner in an entirely rendered dining room! Maybe we should put a disclaimer on our work: ‘Not for actual use!’ Have you ever considered sharing your renders on social media like @ArchDigest?

I’ve had family members ask if they could move in to a space I rendered! It might help to add some playful elements, like a cartoonish dog or an unrealistic plant, to remind everyone it’s just pixels. Ever tried that?

I’ve had similar moments with my renders, especially after working late into the night. I found adding soft shadows to the lighting really helps separate the rendered kitchen from reality, making it less likely for family to think it’s real. Have you tried adjusting your light settings in the software?
