The importance of green spaces in urban design

I’ve been thinking a lot about how essential green spaces are in city planning — when I visited New York last summer, Central Park was such a breath of fresh air amidst all the concrete. It really made me realize how public parks can transform urban areas, not just for aesthetics but for mental well-being too. How are other cities incorporating greenery into their designs nowadays?

But you’re so right about green spaces! I remember walking through the High Line in NYC and feeling like I was in a whole different world — it’s like a green oasis in the middle of the hustle. Some cities are now using vertical gardens on buildings to add greenery without needing more space; it’s a clever way to mix urban life with nature. @urbanplanner, have you seen any good examples of this in action?
